Unrealistic Hair Expectations

Unrealistic Hair Expectations

It’s time for real talk. We’ve all sat on our couch, scrolling through Instagram and watching our favourite TV program, when the superstar of all superstars strutted her utterly gorgeous hair onto the stage and made you want to screenshot it in the moment of pure envy and run to your hairstylist the very next day in order to get that gorgeous style yourself! Exact same look. We can’t blame you ladies some celebrities are our #hairgoals as well. But we’ve had our slaps of reality and we believe everyone deserves one.

There are plenty of celebrities glorified on the covers of magazines, with pearly shiny hair and a hair colour that seems as if it has been extracted from your imagination, that make stylists look very bad and you as a client unhappy. From the very start we are set up for failure, because most clients don’t realize that 90% of photos have been filtered and digitally enhanced to perfection, and sometimes to be completely different from the original. Which is why one day you can see your favourite celebrity rocking stunning golden curls, and the next day black long straight hair, and rest assured it’s not their natural hair.

In reality, we can’t walk around with Photoshop to make us look picture-perfect. There’s no filter that can make us look like our favourite celebs or a stylist that can colour your hair from black to blonde in one snap of a finger, although it would be a dream, right?

When you come into the salon, you’ll have to sit down and talk to your hair stylist, because he/she is your real life filter. In order to get desired results, and achieve the look that is perfect for you, you have to follow these two main rules. Are you ready?

  • Be honest about how you treated your hair. We are not here to judge. We want to know how you maintain your hair, whether you have treated it with chemicals before or whether it’s virgin hair. That’s the only way we can find the perfect formula and get the results you want.
  • Another important aspect is to stay real. There’s no ideal, one-session treatment that will give you red carpet colour that you see in magazines. It takes time, the right professional and realistic expectations.

Unrealistic expectations can only hold you back. So think about it. Are you setting yourself up for hair success or failure?
